Rules of Cinque Terre Passion Ride 2025

Roles and cost

  • Meeting point: Saturday 05 April 2025 at 7:00 am
  • Departure: 9:00 a.m.
  • Departure and arrival: La Spezia – Piazza Europa
  • Registration deadline: April 4, 2025, at 11:59 PM.

1) EVENT

The event is a cycling tour with two routes, short and long.

The short route is approximately 57.8 km long with an elevation gain of 1190 m.
The long route is approximately 85.4 km long with an elevation gain of 1840 m.

1) PARTICIPATION

Registration is only possible via the official ENDU portal for the event https://www.endu.net/it/events/cinque-terre-passion-ride-2026/ in the “Registration” section.
The event is open to both F.C.I. members and sports promotion organizations that have signed the agreement with the F.C.I. for the year 2026 (ACSI, AICS, CSAIN, CSEN, CSI, LIBERTAS, US ACLI, UISP, OPES, and ASI) and to cyclists of both sexes.
Participants who compete in the timed section of the route (timed cyclists) must present a certificate of fitness specific to timed cycling. Certificates for other types of sports such as triathlon, duathlon, athletics, etc. will not be accepted.
Cyclists will be given a different colored number that will allow them to be identified along the route by the marshals. No rankings will be drawn up at the finish line.

Participation is subject to the following requirements:
– For timed cyclists (athletes who will be timed on the dedicated section) and participants in the long route:
certificate of competitive fitness;
– For cyclists (athletes who will not be included in the timed section rankings) participating in the short route:
certificate of non-competitive fitness;
The Organizing Committee may, at any time and at its sole discretion, decide whether to accept or reject a registration, or exclude a participant from the event, if they believe that the participant may damage the image of the event.
Time limit for completing the routes: 1:00 p.m.

3) REGISTRATIONS

The individual registration fee is as follows:
Cycling tour: €45, including participation in the Sunday cycling tour (Cinque Terre Passion Ride), valid for both routes, and for Saturday’s activities.
Saturday: €15, valid exclusively for Saturday’s activities and only for those accompanying participants in Sunday’s cycling tour. Registration must be completed at the time of purchase of participation in the Cinque Terre Passion Ride

NB: the Saturday program is available in the “program” section of the website www.cinqueterrepassionride.it.
Online registration for the event can be completed on the ENDU registration platform.
Registration deadline: Friday, May 8, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.

4) RACE NUMBER

The start is scheduled for May 10 at 9:00 a.m. according to the grids defined below:
For timed cyclists: first grid (bibs with chips)
For cyclists: second grid (bibs without chips)
The grids are scheduled to open at 8:00 a.m.
Before the start, the organizing committee staff will check access to the various starting grids.

5) TIMEKEEPING

Both routes include a timed section, which is currently being defined.
Timing will be carried out by an official Evodata Timer using ONECHIP technology. Each participant wishing to undertake the timed section must be equipped with a valid personal chip or a daily rental chip. Information and conditions regarding the use of chips are published on the website https://www.endu.net/it/regolamentochip. Failure to use the chip or incorrect use of the chip will result in exclusion from the rankings and the time taken will not be recorded.

6) RACE PACKAGES

All participants must go to Piazza Europa in La Spezia to have their certificates checked and to collect their race bibs and race packs. Race packs can be collected on Saturday, May 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or on Sunday, May 10, from 8:00 a.m. onwards.
The race will start at 10:00 a.m. sharp from Piazza Europa in La Spezia.

7) MEETING POINT and DEPARTURE

The meeting point is set for Sunday, May 10, at 7:00 a.m. in Piazza Europa.
The departure will be from Piazza Europa, where access to the starting grids will be available from 8:00 a.m.
Parking is available in the “Park Europa” underground car park, located beneath Piazza Europa. Please note that the maximum height allowed for vehicles is 2.05 meters. Vehicles with bicycles mounted on the roof are not permitted.
The Highway Code must be observed.

8) MAXIMUM ARRIVAL TIME

Maximum time of arrival by 1 p.m.

9) RANKINGS AND PRIZE-GIVING

At the end of the competition, separate rankings will be published for the women’s and men’s categories.
The award ceremony for the overall rankings for each course will be held for the top 5
men and women.

10) ADMITTED BIKES

Timed cycle-tourists: All bicycles are allowed except for e-bikes.

Cycle-tourists (no timekeeping): all bicycles are allowed.

11) PROGRAMME

Saturday 5 April

  • 7 am Registration opening and race packet collection
  • 8.30 am Closing time for entries
  • 9 am Departure 1st Cinque Terre Passion Ride
  • 1 pm Expected arrival of last competitor
  • 1 pm Refreshments
  • 1.30 pm Award ceremony

12) RULES

Although this is a race with rankings and scores, it is an amateur event and takes place on roads open to traffic. Therefore, participants must keep to the right and obey the rules of the road. For anything not covered here, the UISP regulations apply.
The organization accepts no responsibility before, during, or after the event.
Those who do not pass through the checkpoints
located along the route will be excluded from the rankings.
It is mandatory to wear an approved cycling helmet.

13) REFRESHMENTS

Refreshments will be provided by the organisation staff along the route.

14) MEDICAL ASSISTANCE

Medical assistance includes the presence of ambulances with doctors and staff medical staff.

15) VARIATIONS TO THE REGULATIONS

The organisation reserves the right to make any changes to these regulations.

17) RIGHTS AND DUTIES

Participants must visibly attach the number provided by the organization to their handlebars and be equipped with a chip if they wish to participate in the rankings. The numbers provided by the organization may not be modified or altered in any way, under penalty of disqualification.
It is mandatory to wear an APPROVED hard helmet for cycling, fastened correctly for the entire duration of the race, and to comply with the HIGHWAY CODE.
If participants leave or decide to turn back on their own, the organization is not responsible for them and they are not covered by insurance.
Anyone who has not entered the STARTING GRID 10 (ten) minutes before the start will be automatically placed in the last starting grid. It is recommended that you carry a puncture repair kit with you during the race and equip yourself with clothing suitable for changing weather conditions.
By registering, you declare that you have a valid medical certificate for sporting activities and that you have read these regulations and accept them unconditionally in their entirety.

By submitting the registration form in any of the forms provided, you declare that you have read the regulations and consent to the use of your data, in accordance with the provisions of the GDPR Privacy Regulation EU Reg. No. 679/16 and subsequent amendments, corrections, and additions. The data requested during registration will be processed exclusively for normal administrative purposes.
By registering for the race, each participant expressly authorizes the organizers, partners, and sponsors of the event to use photos, images, and videos taken during the event free of charge for promotional and communication purposes, including, but not limited to, publication on websites, social media, advertising and promotional material, as well as for the promotion of future editions of the event.
