Rules of Cinque Terre Passion Ride 2025

Roles and cost

  • Meeting time: Sunday, May 10, 2026, at 7:00 a.m.

1) EVENT

The Cinque Terre Passion Ride is a non-competitive amateur cycling tour. The event is purely recreational in nature; there are no rankings, prize lists, or individual awards based on performance. Its main objective is to highlight the region through sports, promote healthy lifestyles, and foster respect for the environment.
Although the event shares a common section, it features two distinct routes: Focaccia (Classic) and Pesto (Levanto Escape).

The Focaccia (Classic) route is approximately 58.3 km long with an elevation gain of 1,460 m.
The Pesto (Levanto Escape) route is approximately 83.4 km long with an elevation gain of 2,160 m.

2) TECHNICAL DETAILS OF THE ROUTES

Pesto Route (Levanto Escape):
Technical Data: 83.4 km | 2,160 m elevation gain.
Access: Reserved exclusively for F.C.I. members and Sports Promotion Organizations that have signed an agreement with the F.C.I. for the year 2026 (ACSI, AICS, CSAIN, CSEN, CSI, LIBERTAS, US ACLI, UISP, OPES, and ASI).
Medical Certification: A medical certificate of fitness for competitive sports is mandatory.
Bicycles: Only pedal-powered bicycles are permitted (e-bikes excluded).
Timing: Although the event is in no way a competition, the Pesto route (Levanto Escape) includes a timed section (from km 19.2 to km 25.3). The timing is for statistical and informational purposes only for individual participants; no rankings will be compiled, nor will individual awards be presented. To use this service, a personal or rental chip is required. Timing will be provided by an official Evodata Timer using ONECHIP technology.

Any participant wishing to run the timed section must be equipped with a valid personal chip or a daily rental chip. Information and conditions regarding the use of chips are published on the website https://www.endu.net/it/regolamentochip. Failure to use the chip or incorrect use of the chip will result in the time taken not being recorded.

Focaccia Route (Classic):
Technical Details: 58.3 km | 1,460 m elevation gain.
Access: OPEN route, open to members and recreational cyclists.
Medical Certification: A non-competitive medical fitness certificate is required.
Bicycles: All types permitted (including e-bikes)

3) REGISTRATIONS

Registration is available exclusively through the event’s official ENDU portal at https://www.endu.net/it/events/cinque-terre-passion-ride-2026/ in the “Registration” section.
The individual registration fee is as follows:
Cycling Tour: €45, which includes participation in the Sunday cycling tour (Cinque Terre Passion Ride), valid for both routes, and for Saturday’s activities.
Saturday: €15, valid exclusively for the activities scheduled on Saturday and only for companions of participants in the Sunday cycling tour. Registration must be completed at the time of purchasing participation in the Cinque Terre Passion Ride.

Note: The Saturday program is available in the “Program” section of the website www.cinqueterrepassionride.it
The Organizing Committee may, at any time and at its sole discretion, decide whether or not to accept a registration, or exclude a registrant from the event, should they cause harm to the event’s image.
Online registration for the event can be completed on the ENDU registration platform.

4) RACE NUMBER

The race is scheduled to start on May 10 at 8:30 a.m. according to the starting groups defined below:
For participants in the Pesto route (Levanto Escape): first starting group (bibs with chips)
For participants in the Focaccia route (Classic): second starting group (bibs without chips)
The starting groups are scheduled to open at 8:00 a.m.
Before the start, staff from the organizing committee will check access to the various starting groups.

5) SAFETY, RIDING CONDUCT, AND INSURANCE

Controlled Pace: To ensure maximum safety, groups on both routes will ride at a controlled pace for the entire journey, constantly escorted by the organization’s vehicles (lead bike and sweep vehicle)
Insurance Coverage: The organization guarantees the activation of a specific insurance policy for Third-Party Liability (RCT) to protect all duly registered participants, in accordance with current laws and UISP regulations.
Traffic Laws: The ride takes place on roads open to traffic. It is mandatory to keep to the right and strictly observe all traffic laws.
Equipment: The use of an approved hard-shell helmet, properly fastened, is mandatory for the entire duration of the ride.

6) RACE PACKAGES

All participants must report to Piazza Europa in La Spezia for
certificate verification and to pick up their race bib and race packet. Race packets may be picked up on Saturday, May 9, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or on Sunday, May 10, starting at 7:00 a.m.

7) MEETING POINT and DEPARTURE

The meeting point is set for Sunday, May 10, at 7:00 a.m. in Piazza Europa.
The departure will be from Piazza Europa, where access to the starting grids will be available from 8:00 a.m.
Parking is available in the “Park Europa” underground car park, located beneath Piazza Europa. Please note that the maximum height allowed for vehicles is 2.05 meters. Vehicles with bicycles mounted on the roof are not permitted.
The Highway Code must be observed.

8) MAXIMUM ARRIVAL TIME

Maximum time of arrival by 2 p.m.

9) ADMITTED BIKES

Cyclists participating in the Pesto route (Levanto Escape): All bicycles are permitted, with the exception of e-bikes.
Cyclists participating in the Focaccia route (Classic): All bicycles are permitted.

10) PROGRAM

Sunday 10 May

  • 7:00 a.m. Meet-up
  • 8:00 a.m. Start of the race
  • 8:30 a.m. Start of the Cinque Terre Passion Ride
  • 2:00 p.m. Estimated arrival of the last competitor
  • 1:00 p.m. Refreshments at the finish line
  • 3:00 p.m. Closing remarks

11) RULES

This is an amateur event held on public roads. Therefore, participants must ride on the right side of the road and obey all traffic laws. For any matters not covered herein, UISP regulations apply.
The organizers assume no liability before, during, or after the event.
Participants who do not pass through the checkpoints
located along the route will be excluded from the timing system.
It is mandatory to wear a helmet approved for cycling.

12) REFRESHMENTS

There will be a refreshment station at kilometer 26.5, at the top of Passo Termine, for the Pesto and Focaccia routes (Classic), and another at kilometer 51.5 for the Pesto route (Levanto Escape), also at the top of Passo Termine.

13) MEDICAL ASSISTANCE

Healthcare services include ambulances staffed by doctors and medical personnel stationed along both routes.

14) VARIATIONS TO THE REGULATIONS

The organisation reserves the right to make any changes to these regulations.

16) RIGHTS AND DUTIES

Participants must clearly display the race number provided by the organizers on their handlebars and must be equipped with a timing chip if they wish to be timed. The race numbers provided by the organizers may not be modified or altered in any way, under penalty of disqualification.
It is mandatory to wear a HARD HELMET APPROVED for cycling and properly fastened for the entire duration of the event, and to comply with the TRAFFIC CODE.
Should participants leave the course or decide to turn back on their own,
the organizers are not responsible, and such participants shall be considered outside the scope of insurance coverage.
Anyone who has not entered the starting grid 10 (ten) minutes before the start will be automatically placed in the last starting grid. It is recommended to bring a puncture repair kit and to wear clothing suitable for changing weather conditions.

By registering, you declare that you are in possession of a valid medical certificate authorizing you to participate in sports activities, and that you have read these rules and regulations and unconditionally accept them in their entirety.
By submitting the registration form in any of the prescribed formats, you declare that you have read the regulations and consent to the use of your data in accordance with the provisions of the GDPR Privacy Regulation (EU) No. 679/16 and subsequent amendments, corrections, and additions. The data requested upon registration will be processed exclusively for standard administrative purposes.
By registering for the event, each participant expressly authorizes the organizers, partners, and sponsors of the event to use, free of charge, photos, images, and videos taken during the event for promotional and communication purposes, including, by way of example, publication on websites, social media, and advertising and promotional materials, as well as for the promotion of future editions of the event.
